Relaunch of a Digital Marketplace Solution – International Airport

Initial Situation / Challenge
A major international airport faced the challenge of modernizing its existing multi-channel marketplace. The goal was to develop a scalable, user-friendly platform that offers both end customers and partners a seamless digital experience – while simultaneously integrating complex backend systems and logistics processes.

Role & Contribution
As project manager and program consultant, I took overall responsibility for the relaunch and coordinated several agile teams within a SAFe framework. I oversaw the development of a modern web app, ensuring clear priorities and alignment between product management, engineering, and stakeholders. Furthermore, I ensured that the product development met the airport's requirements in terms of performance, security, and user experience.

Solution & Approach
I implemented structured program management and agile delivery processes to optimize collaboration between teams across locations. Through regular Program Increment (PI) planning, transparency in dependencies, and iterative feedback cycles, development was significantly accelerated. The technical architecture was modernized to ensure future scalability, extensibility, and integration capabilities.

Outcome/Impact
The airport received a modernized, cost-efficient marketplace platform that significantly improved the user experience and increased operational efficiency. Thanks to optimized team coordination, time-to-market was shortened, and the platform was launched on schedule. The new digital marketplace strengthens customer interaction and partner integration and creates a sustainable foundation for further growth.
