Secure Platform for Connected Vehicles
Initial Situation / Challenge
An international automotive manufacturer developed a new infotainment system with enhanced security features for embedded systems (ECUs). The goal was to secure the platform against emerging threats in the long term and to ensure the data security of connected vehicles. The project was in a complex phase with high demands on technical security, coordination, and agile collaboration.
Role & Contribution
As Scrum Master of the "Platform Security" team, I was responsible for integrating technology, management, and agile methodologies. I coached the team and stakeholders, established transparency regarding priorities, and fostered communication between development, architecture, and security experts. Together with the team, we established a "Security by Design" approach that embedded security as an integral part of the development process.
Solution & Approach
Through the targeted application of agile principles, regular retrospectives, and structured coordination with the development architecture, platform security was improved step by step. Security aspects were integrated into design and implementation decisions early on, thereby reducing risks and shortening development times.
Outcome / Impact
The team delivered a secure, scalable platform that ensures the protection of sensitive vehicle and customer data and strengthens the integrity of the overall system. The implementation of Security by Design led to sustainably higher product quality and an agile security culture within the development team. The company was able to significantly increase the trustworthiness of its connected car platform.
